SMS automation: the messages customers actually open

The short answer

SMS automation sends the short, timely messages people read: appointment reminders, booking confirmations, an instant reply to a web lead, a review request after a job. Redenn builds each workflow from CA$149 one-time. Every recipient must have given consent under CASL before a promotional text is sent, and carrier usage fees for numbers and messages are billed separately at cost.

What changes

  • Reminders and confirmations reach customers on the device they are already holding
  • Web leads get a text within seconds while they are still on your site
  • Two-way replies land in one shared inbox instead of a personal phone
  • Consent and opt-out are recorded automatically for every number

What is included

  • Business number provisioned and registered with the carrier for business messaging
  • Workflow build: trigger, message, timing and follow-up rules
  • Consent capture on forms and bookings, with a consent record
  • STOP handling and an opt-out list honoured across all workflows
  • Shared inbox for replies, routed to the right person
  • Monthly usage summary

How it works

  1. 01

    Consent first

We add consent capture to the forms and bookings that will feed the workflow.

  2. 02

    Number and registration

A business number is provisioned and registered; carriers can take time to approve.

  3. 03

    Build and test

Each workflow is built and tested with real phones, including the STOP path.

  4. 04

    Run and review

Live with a shared inbox; usage and replies reviewed monthly.

Who this is for

Businesses where timing matters and customers are on their phones: clinics and salons confirming appointments, garages telling a customer the car is ready, HVAC companies replying to an urgent web lead, gyms reminding members about a class.

It is not for bulk promotions to people who never agreed to hear from you. That breaks CASL, and carriers block senders who do it.

What we build

Each workflow is built on a consent basis. The table shows the usual ones and the consent each relies on.

What it costs

Each workflow is from CA$149 one-time as an Automation. Carrier usage, meaning number rental and per-message charges, is billed separately at cost and rises with volume. If the workflow needs a database, such as a shared inbox with history, it runs on Redenn Dynamic hosting at CA$49 per month.

Limitations and honest notes

CASL applies to promotional SMS: consent, identification and an unsubscribe are required. We build every workflow with all three, and we will not import numbers without a consent record.

Carriers require business senders to register, and approval times are theirs, not ours. Messages sent before approval can be filtered.

Two-way texting only works if someone answers the replies. If nobody will watch the inbox, a one-way reminder with a phone number is the honest choice.

Questions

Do I need consent to send appointment reminders?

A reminder for an appointment the customer booked is different from a promotion, but we capture consent at booking and include an opt-out anyway, so you are covered either way.

What do text messages cost?

Carrier rates for the number and per message vary and are billed at cost, with no markup from Redenn. Your monthly usage summary shows exactly what was sent.

Can customers reply?

Yes. Replies land in a shared inbox and can be routed to the right person. STOP is handled automatically.

Which number shows on the text?

A dedicated business number registered for messaging. It can be forwarded to your main line for calls.
