How we build
We build websites and web applications in Next.js, React and TypeScript, hosted on Vercel, and add other tools only when your project needs them. Every site is built for phones first, tested on real phones and measured for load time before launch.

The stack
Most of what we build is custom-coded. This is what we use, and when.
| Part | What we use | When |
|---|---|---|
| Pages and applications | Next.js, React and TypeScript | Custom-coded websites and web applications |
| Server code | Node.js | Forms, integrations and automation |
| Hosting | Vercel | Sites on Redenn hosting |
| Database | Supabase (managed Postgres) | Only when a site needs one, such as for accounts, bookings or customer records |
| Online stores | A custom build | When you sell products online; each store is quoted in writing |
| Content sites | WordPress | When it is the right tool for you |
WordPress is sometimes the better choice, for example when your team publishes through its editor every week. Our guide Should you leave WordPress? explains when to stay and when to move.
Built for phones first
We design each page for a phone screen first, then for tablets and desktops. Before launch we test the site on real phones and measure how long pages take to load, then fix what the measurement shows.
We do not promise a speed score. Load time depends on your content, images and any third-party tools, so we measure it instead of quoting it.
Accessibility
WCAG 2.1 Level AA is our target for client sites. It covers things like colour contrast, keyboard access, form labels and text alternatives for images.
It is a target we build and test against, not a certificate.
Search Setup
Search Setup makes a site easy for search engines to read: titles and descriptions, canonical tags, a sitemap, robots rules and structured data.
It is included in the Business, Business Plus and Growth System packages. Launch and Starter do not include it; you can add it for CA$99.
No one can guarantee rankings. Search Setup gives search engines an accurate picture of your site; what ranks is still their decision.
Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude taxes. Any tax that applies is shown separately on your invoice.
Your code, handed over
Every change goes into version control (Git), so the history of the code is kept.
Once the project is paid, the code is yours. At handover we transfer the repository and every account to you, or we keep managing them for you on a paid plan. Either way, you can take everything to another developer. What you own, and what you get when you leave, is on Trust and security.
How a project runs
Before any work starts, you get a written scope with a fixed price in Canadian dollars and a ship date. The written quote arrives within two business days.
While we build, you review the work on a private staging link, page by page. Every project follows the same eight phases:
- Requirement analysis
- Scope, quote and kickoff
- Sitemap and wireframes
- Visual design
- Development
- Content and search setup
- Testing and quality checks
- Launch and handover
What happens in each phase, and what you see in your client portal, is on How we work.
What done means
A project is done when all of this is true, not when the last page is designed.
- The quality checklist is complete: phones, tablets and desktops; forms and links; speed and accessibility; search and crawler checks.
- The site is live on your domain, with SSL.
- Search Console and analytics are set up, where your package includes them.
- You have the code and every login, or we manage the accounts for you on a paid plan, and we have walked you through the site.
An example: this website
Redenn.ca is built the way this page describes: Next.js, React and TypeScript on Vercel, with a Supabase database for inquiries.
We measure it the same way too. On September 29, 2026, Lighthouse 12.8.2 on mobile (the median of three runs) measured the homepage's Largest Contentful Paint, the time until the largest element on screen appears, at 4.23 seconds.
That was before the current homepage redesign. It is slower than we want, and the homepage is being improved.
