The short answer
The AI Receptionist answers the calls you miss, in your business's name, finds out what the caller needs, captures their details, books an appointment or routes the call, and sends you a summary by text or email. It is from CA$149 per month; telephony usage for numbers and minutes is billed separately at cost.
What changes
- Calls that used to hit voicemail are answered, and voicemail is where enquiries go to die
- Every call ends with a written summary: who, what, when, how to reach them
- Bookings land on your calendar without a call-back
- Emergencies reach a human number immediately by your rules
What is included
- Receptionist trained on your services, hours, service area and prices
- Call forwarding on busy, no answer or after hours, or a dedicated number
- Caller need and contact details captured on every call
- Booking to your calendar or booking system, or routing to a human by rule
- Text or email summary after each call, and a CRM entry if you have one
- Monthly call log and a review of what callers asked
How it works
- 01
Script and rules
We gather your services, prices, hours and the rules for what gets booked, routed or taken as a message.
- 02
Build and test
The receptionist is configured and test-called by you until the answers are right.
- 03
Go live
Forwarding is set on your existing line, or a new number is published, and summaries start arriving.
- 04
Tune
Monthly review of transcripts to add answers for questions it could not handle.
Who this is for
Owner-operators and small teams whose phone rings while they are working: plumbers, electricians, HVAC and roofing crews, garages, small clinics at lunch, driving schools between lessons. The receptionist is for the calls you cannot take, not a replacement for the ones you can.
It is a poor fit for businesses where every call needs judgement a script cannot provide, such as crisis lines or complex legal intake. There, the honest setup is a human receptionist with the AI handling overflow and after-hours only.
How it works
The receptionist follows rules you set. The table shows the common call types and what happens on each.
| Caller wants | Receptionist does | You receive |
|---|---|---|
| A quote or a visit | Captures job, address, timing, phone | Summary text and CRM lead |
| To book an appointment | Offers open slots and books | Calendar entry and confirmation |
| Hours, area, prices | Answers from your approved information | Logged, no action needed |
| An emergency | Routes to your on-call number by your rule | Live transfer or immediate alert |
| Something it cannot answer | Takes a message and promises a call-back | Summary flagged for follow-up |
What it costs
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| AI Receptionist | from CA$149/month | One business, one script, summaries and monthly review |
| Telephony usage | Billed at cost | Phone number rental and per-minute charges from the carrier |
| Booking | CA$99 one-time | If you do not already have online booking |
| CRM Setup | from CA$299 one-time | If you want every call to become a tracked lead |
Limitations and honest notes
It is an AI assistant and says so when asked. Callers who insist on a person are routed or given a call-back time; the receptionist does not pretend.
Call recording and transcription involve personal information. Callers are told the call may be recorded, and the transcripts fall under PIPEDA or the provincial equivalent; you decide how long they are kept.
Heavy accents, poor signal and background noise reduce accuracy, and a caller who wants to negotiate will still need you. Telephony usage is a real monthly cost on top of the plan, and it rises with call volume.
Questions
Does it replace my receptionist?
Usually it covers what a receptionist cannot: after hours, lunch, and when the line is busy. Businesses with a front desk keep it and add the AI for overflow.
What does telephony usage cost?
Number rental and per-minute charges are set by the carrier and billed at cost with no markup. The AI receptionist calculator gives an estimate from your expected call volume.
Can it book appointments?
Yes, into a calendar or booking system it can read and write. It offers real open slots and confirms the booking to the caller.
Does it speak French?
It can be configured to answer in French or to switch based on the caller, which matters for businesses serving the Quebec public. Tell us at setup.
What about emergencies?
You define the rule: certain keywords or times trigger a live transfer to an on-call number or an immediate alert. It never sits on an emergency.
