The short answer

Redenn Informatics Inc. builds websites, search, automation and CRM systems for businesses across Canada from one office in Brampton, Ontario. The rules that shape a Canadian business website are mostly federal (PIPEDA, CASL, CIRA's .ca requirements); each province then adds its own sales tax, privacy or language obligations, mapped below.

What is different about a business website in Canada

  • PrivacyPIPEDA applies to private-sector organizations that collect, use or disclose personal information in the course of commercial activity, except where a province has substantially similar legislation (Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta). (Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada)
  • Email and SMSCASL requires consent, identification and an unsubscribe mechanism for commercial electronic messages such as newsletters and promotional SMS. (Government of Canada)
  • DomainsCIRA's Canadian Presence Requirements limit who can register a .ca domain, for example Canadian citizens, permanent residents, Canadian corporations and trademark holders. (CIRA)
  • TaxFederal GST is 5%; provinces add HST, PST, RST or QST at different rates, and Alberta and the territories add no provincial sales tax. Rates change and must be verified. (Canada Revenue Agency)
  • Local marketGoogle states that its AI features in Search (AI Overviews, AI Mode) use the core Search index and ranking systems, with no special requirements beyond standard SEO best practices. (Google Search Central)
  • Local marketGoogle's Core Web Vitals thresholds are LCP 2.5 s or less, INP 200 ms or less and CLS 0.1 or less, measured at the 75th percentile of page loads. (web.dev)

Running a business website in Canada: what is different

Three federal rules apply wherever you operate. PIPEDA governs customer data collected in commercial activity, unless you are in Quebec, British Columbia or Alberta, where substantially similar provincial laws apply instead. CASL sets consent, identification and unsubscribe rules for newsletters and promotional SMS. A .ca domain is only available to registrants who meet CIRA's Canadian Presence Requirements.

Everything else is provincial. Sales tax trips up online stores: checkout must apply the right GST, HST, PST, RST or QST for the customer's province. Ontario adds accessibility duties for larger organizations; Quebec adds French-language and Law 25 privacy duties.

Which Redenn products fit Canadian businesses

Most businesses start with Launch (CA$99, one page), Starter (CA$299, three pages), Business (CA$499, five pages with Search Setup) or Business Plus (CA$799, booking and blog). A business that wants leads handled rather than collected starts at the Growth System from CA$1,299. Ecommerce with province-by-province tax starts from CA$1,499.

Our Canadian portfolio shows the range: Jagbir Transport (asset-based trucking, Toronto) and Stefano's Inc. (grocery freight and logistics) sell to shippers; Empire Framing Inc. (custom framing, several provinces) and Synergy Homes Inc. (design-build homes, Winnipeg) sell on project credibility; GSS Driving School in Sunnyside, Manitoba sells a booked lesson.

Local search in Canada

A business serving several provinces should not publish one near-identical page per city; Google treats that as doorway pages. Build one page per genuinely different service area, with its own facts, projects and contact details, plus a Google Business Profile per physical location.

Search has evolved. Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode use the same index and ranking systems as regular results, and ChatGPT search uses OpenAI's OAI-SearchBot, which robots.txt can allow or block separately from GPTBot. The Search + AI Foundation (CA$299) sets crawler policy, entity clarity and IndexNow. We never guarantee rankings or AI citations.

How we work with Canadian clients

Our only office is at 91 Cookview Drive, Brampton, Ontario. There are no others: clients outside the Greater Toronto Area are served remotely by video call, email and a shared project board, and so are most GTA clients. We deliver Next.js and TypeScript builds on Vercel without traditional agency pricing.

You own your domain, code and accounts. Hosting is Redenn Lite (CA$99/year) or Redenn Business (CA$199/year) for most sites, and Redenn Dynamic (CA$49/month) only when a database is genuinely needed.

Questions from Canada businesses

Does Redenn have offices across Canada?

No. Our only office is in Brampton, Ontario. Every other market is served remotely.

Which privacy law applies to my website?

PIPEDA in most provinces. Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta have substantially similar provincial laws that apply instead. We build the privacy page and consent mechanics; a lawyer confirms the wording.

Can my online store charge one tax rate for all of Canada?

No. The rate follows the customer's province, from 5% GST alone in Alberta to 15% HST in three Atlantic provinces. Rates change; verify with the CRA.

Do I need a .ca domain?

Not required, but available if you meet CIRA's Canadian Presence Requirements. We register it in your name; management is CA$9.99/year on top of the registrar's live price.
