The short answer
A Redenn-built site is backed up at three levels: the code lives in a Git repository with full history, site content is backed up with Redenn Business hosting at CA$199 per year and above, and application databases on Dynamic and Pro Managed tiers have managed backups. Restores are tested, because a backup that has never been restored is a hope, not a plan.

Who this is for
Every business whose website or application would hurt to lose: a clinic's booking records, an immigration consultant's client files, a store's orders, a law firm's intake. Backups are part of hosting rather than an add-on because the day you need them is not the day to buy them.
Lite hosting covers static sites whose content lives in the repository; the repository is the backup.

How a restore works
You tell us what went wrong and roughly when. For code, we redeploy the last good version, usually within the hour. For content, we restore the affected items from the most recent backup before the change. For a database, we restore to a point before the incident and confirm with you what, if anything, was entered after that point and needs re-entering. On Pro Managed, restore drills are part of database management so the process is practised before it is needed.
Limitations and honest notes
Data held in third-party tools is backed up by those vendors, not by Redenn. Check their retention before relying on it.
Backups protect against mistakes and failures; they do not replace your own copies of important documents, and they are not an archive for records you are legally required to keep.
Backups contain personal information and are covered by PIPEDA or provincial law. Retention periods are agreed at setup and are part of your privacy policy.
Questions
How often are backups taken?
Code is versioned on every change. Content and database backups run on the managed platform's schedule for the tier, and Pro Managed adds database management with restore drills.
Can I get a copy of my site and data?
Yes, at any time. The repository is yours already; content and database exports are provided on request.
What about data in my CRM or booking app?
Those vendors back up their own systems. We can build a scheduled export into your own storage if you want an independent copy.
How quickly can a site be restored?
Code restores are usually done within the hour. Content and database restores depend on the size and on confirming the right point in time with you.
