The short answer
An AI receptionist from Redenn costs from CA$149 per month plus telephony usage billed by the phone provider. It answers the calls you miss, captures what the caller needs and their details, books or routes the call, and messages you a summary. Whether it pays for itself is arithmetic you can do in two minutes with the worked example below, using your own call log rather than anyone's statistics.
What an AI receptionist does
An AI receptionist is a phone assistant that picks up when you cannot. It is not a replacement for a person who is available; it is a replacement for voicemail, which callers often hang up on rather than use. Redenn's version does five things and stops there.
- Answers calls you miss, or all calls outside hours, with your business name and a natural voice.
- Captures the caller's need and details: name, number, what they want and when.
- Books an appointment into your calendar or routes urgent calls to a person, according to rules you set.
- Sends you a summary by text, email or into your CRM immediately after the call.
- Answers common questions about hours, services and areas from information you approve.
What it costs
Telephony usage is the line people forget. It is metered by the phone provider per minute and per number, and it scales with how many calls you receive. Redenn shows it separately so that the base price is not padded with an estimate that will be wrong for your volume. The AI receptionist calculator lets you test the arithmetic in the next section with your own inputs.
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| AI Receptionist base | from CA$149 per month | The assistant, your call-handling rules and summaries; scope confirmed in the quote |
| Telephony usage | Billed by the phone provider | Per-minute call charges and number rental; never included in the base, always shown separately |
| CRM Setup | from CA$299 one-time | Only if you want call summaries to land in a pipeline and you have no CRM |
| Lead Follow-Up Automation | from CA$149 one-time | Optional: an instant text back to missed callers and reminders until someone replies |
| AI Website Chat | from CA$99 per month | Optional: the same questions answered on the website, around the clock |
The missed-call arithmetic (edit every input)
The example below shows the method, not industry data. Every value in the example column is a placeholder chosen to make the arithmetic easy to follow. Replace each one with your own figures from your call log, your booking rate and your invoices before drawing any conclusion.
Under those placeholder inputs the receptionist recovers CA$600 of work a month against CA$149 plus call minutes. With different inputs the answer flips: a business with three missed calls a month and small ticket sizes should not buy this. That is the point of doing the arithmetic yourself.
The honest version also asks what a missed call already costs you in reputation, and what a person answering the phone costs. If you already have someone who answers every call during the day, the receptionist only adds value after hours, and the inputs should reflect after-hours calls only.
| Input | Example input (placeholder, replace it) | Your number |
|---|---|---|
| Missed calls per month | 20 | (fill in) |
| Share of missed calls that were genuine new enquiries | 40%, so 8 enquiries | (fill in) |
| Share of enquiries you usually win | 25%, so 2 jobs | (fill in) |
| Average value of a first job | CA$300 | (fill in) |
| Recovered revenue per month | 20 x 0.40 x 0.25 x CA$300 = CA$600 | (calculate) |
| Monthly cost | CA$149 base plus telephony usage | (from your quote) |
Limitations and when it is the wrong tool
These limits are the reasons Redenn will sometimes advise against the product.
- It is not a person. Callers who need empathy, negotiation or a judgement call should reach one, and the routing rules should send them there.
- It only knows what you approve. Prices, policies and availability must be kept current or it will answer with stale information.
- It cannot fix a business that does not follow up. A summary nobody reads is a missed call with extra steps.
- Telephony usage scales with volume; a high-call-volume business should estimate the minutes before signing.
- Accents, background noise and poor mobile signal degrade any voice system. Test it with your own callers before relying on it.
- Recording and transcribing calls involves personal information; your privacy policy should say so and your consent approach should match the rules in your province.
Who it fits
It fits trades and services where the phone is the main sales channel and the owner is on site all day: plumbers, electricians, HVAC, auto repair, clinics with a single front desk, driving schools, moving and transport companies. It fits any business that closes at five but whose customers search at nine.
It fits less well where calls are long consultations, where a licensed person must be on the line, or where call volume is so low that voicemail plus a fast text back does the job. In that last case, Lead Follow-Up Automation from CA$149 one-time is the better buy.
How setup works
Redenn scopes the rules with you: which calls it should answer, what it may promise, when it books and when it routes to a person. It connects the number, the calendar and the CRM or inbox, and tests with real scenarios before going live. From then on, changes to hours, services or prices are configuration, and the monthly report shows calls answered, enquiries captured and bookings made.
Questions
Does CA$149 per month include phone minutes?
No. Telephony usage is metered by the phone provider per minute and per number and is billed separately. Redenn shows it as its own line so you can estimate it for your call volume.
Can an AI receptionist book appointments?
Yes. It books into your calendar according to the rules you set, such as which services can be booked, at what times and with how much notice.
Will callers know they are talking to an AI?
It can and should introduce itself as an assistant. Redenn recommends transparency: it keeps trust, and it avoids surprises when a person follows up.
What happens to urgent calls?
Routing rules decide. An urgent call can be transferred to a person, or the caller can be told when to expect a callback and the summary sent to you immediately.
Can it replace my receptionist?
It replaces voicemail, not a person. If someone answers every call during the day, use it for after-hours and overflow, and run the arithmetic on those calls only.
How do I know whether it is worth it?
Count your missed calls for a month, estimate how many were real enquiries and how many you would have won, multiply by your average first job, and compare with CA$149 plus telephony. The calculator does this for you.
