The short answer
An electrical contractor's website has to do two things a plumber's does not: prove you are licensed to do the work, and separate the very different customers who search for a panel upgrade, an EV charger, a commercial fit-out or a flickering light. Redenn builds that as distinct service pages on a fast Next.js site, with quote follow-up and a simple pipeline behind it, from CA$499 for a Business site.
The problems we hear from electrical contractors
- Half my enquiries are for things I do not do, like appliance repair or low-voltage alarms, and I spend time saying no.
- EV charger and panel upgrade jobs are the profitable ones, but the site does not mention them.
- I quote from the truck at night and then forget to chase the ones that went quiet.
- Customers ask if I am licensed and insured before they trust me, and the site does not answer.
- Commercial property managers want a company they can email, not a cell number.
- Service calls interrupt the big job I am on, and I miss them anyway.
The solution architecture
Each piece maps to a real Redenn service with a published price.
Separate pages for each kind of work
Residential service, panel upgrades, EV charger installation, renovations and commercial work each get a page that explains the job, what affects cost, and who it is for. The wrong enquiries drop; the right ones arrive better informed.
Website DevelopmentLicensing and insurance stated plainly
A dedicated trust section with your provincial licence type, insurance coverage in general terms, and how permits and inspections are handled. It is the first thing a careful customer looks for.
Conversion OptimizationQuote follow-up that runs itself
Each quote sent triggers a scheduled check-in. If there is no reply, a second reminder goes out and you get a note. Accepted quotes move to scheduled in the pipeline.
Lead Follow-Up AutomationLocal search built around your service area
Google Business Profile with the right categories and services, plus location pages for the areas you serve. Consistent business details everywhere.
Local SearchCalls answered when you are on a ladder
The AI Receptionist takes the call, records the request and address, books a site visit if you allow it, and sends you the summary.
AI ReceptionistA pipeline for quotes and jobs
CRM Setup with stages for enquiry, site visit, quoted, accepted, permit, scheduled and complete. Commercial and residential can be separate views.
Lead Pipeline
Where electrical contractors usually start
How customers find an electrician in Canada
Homeowners search for a specific problem or project: a breaker that keeps tripping, an EV charger for a new car, a 200-amp panel for a basement suite. Property managers and small builders look for a licensed contractor with a company presence, references and someone who answers email. Both check reviews and both want to see that you are licensed.
Google's AI features in Search draw on the same index and ranking systems as regular results, so the fundamentals still decide who gets shown: a fast site, clear service pages, an accurate Google Business Profile and consistent business information across directories.
Because electrical work is permit-driven and safety-critical, trust content carries more weight than in most trades. A page that explains how you handle permits and inspections is often what turns a comparison into a call.
What an electrical contractor website must do
The site should qualify enquiries and make trust visible, so that the leads that arrive are ones you want.
| Page or feature | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Residential service page | Troubleshooting, repairs, fixtures: the high-volume searches. |
| Panel upgrade and EV charger pages | The higher-value projects, explained with what affects cost. |
| Commercial and renovation page | Speaks to property managers and builders in their language. |
| Licensing, insurance and permits section | Answers the trust question before the first call. |
| Quote request form with photos | Lets customers show the panel or the site; feeds the pipeline. |
| Service-area pages | One per region you actually serve. |
| Completed-work gallery | Clean panels and tidy installs sell the next job. |
Automation and CRM for electricians
Most electrical contractors lose jobs after the quote, not before. A quote goes out, the customer collects two more, and the one who follows up wins. Lead Follow-Up Automation from CA$149 schedules those check-ins so they happen without you remembering.
Worked example: a Business site at CA$499 with the Search Setup foundation, Lead Follow-Up Automation from CA$149 and CRM Setup from CA$299, hosted on Redenn Business at CA$199/year. Add AI Receptionist from CA$149/month if missed calls are the bigger gap. The one-time build starts under CA$950.
- Quote sent triggers a check-in sequence with a hand-off rule to you.
- Site-visit booking connected to your calendar.
- Commercial enquiries routed to email with an acknowledgement.
- Review request when a job is marked complete.
Compliance and trust
Electrical contracting is licensed provincially, and each province has its own safety authority and licence categories; Ontario's Electrical Safety Authority is one example. State your licence type and jurisdiction on the site exactly as it appears on your paperwork, and do not claim coverage in a province where you are not licensed.
Forms collect personal information, so a short privacy notice is expected under PIPEDA or the equivalent provincial law. If you market by email or text to past customers, CASL requires consent, identification and an unsubscribe mechanism. Quebec customers must be able to use the site in French under the Charter of the French Language.
When a simpler site is enough
A contractor who works mostly for two or three builders needs a credible Starter site at CA$299 and a good email signature more than a lead system. The full architecture pays off when you are trying to fill your own calendar with retail residential and small commercial work.
Questions
Should EV charger installation have its own page?
Yes, if you do the work. It is a distinct search with its own questions (load capacity, permit, charger types) and deserves its own explanation rather than a line on a services list.
How do I stop enquiries for work I do not do?
Say clearly what you do and do not do, and use a quote form that asks the type of work first. Wrong-fit enquiries can be routed to a polite automatic reply with a referral suggestion.
What does an electrician website cost?
Business at CA$499 covers five pages with the search foundation. Business Plus at CA$799 adds booking and a CMS. Additional standard pages are CA$49 each, so a full set of service pages is affordable.
Can commercial and residential leads be handled differently?
Yes. The form, the CRM stages and the follow-up messages can branch on the type of work, so a property manager gets a company-style reply and a homeowner gets a booking link.
